SPLIT/SCREEN Play Premieres at the Helen Mills Theater!

HELEN MILLS is excited to announce the premier of SPLIT/SCREEN at the HELEN MILLS Theater! The multimedia play  features performances by Alex Montaldo, jazz composer and pianist Ben Rosenblum, and recording artists Dev Avidon and Alida Rohr. The piece is directed by Michael Williams and written by Monique Witt, a retired international finance attorney turned writer and producer. HELEN MILLS Showcase Event

On July 18, 2012, HELEN MILLS Event Space and Theater hosted a collaborative networking event with Michelle Wiedemuth of Unforgettable Hamptons Events, a Hamptons, New York based event planning service and Eventwist, an online directory that connects professional event planners to the best New York City venues. The idea was to create a relaxed environment for event professionals of all specialties to network and mingle against the backdrop of great food and drinks, live entertainment, music and of course, our fabulous venue. Despite the rain and hail (yes, hail!), a wonderful time was had by all!

To kick off the evening, guests were greeted with a glass of wine courtesy of Splitbin, a website offering group-buy deals on wine for members, and then escorted down to the theater, where they were treated to a video montage courtesy of Reel Review, and the comedic talent of stand-up comedian, Mark Normand. Following the comedy show, Deborah Pannell, Director of Communications at Eventwist, took to the stage to thank everyone who put together the event, from founder and visionary behind Eventwist, Duane Lawrence, to photographer, Cody Raisig, who captured the entire event so beautifully. It was amazing to hear how many people put their time and energy into making sure that the night’s event was a success, and of course, it was thrilling to receive a shout-out ourselves!

Following Deborah’s celebratory speech, the guests made their way back up to the event space where beautifully intricate artwork by local Harlem artists organized by Leanne Stella of Art In FLUX Harlem adorned the walls. In the soft, warm glow of dimmed lights, drinks were being poured, attentive wait staff from Cutting Edge Elite meandered the room with hors d’oeuvres from restaurant Corner Social, and music mixed by Jarrell Entertainment set a festive mood. The clinking of glasses intertwining with the sounds of people greeting old and new friends filled the room. At the end of the evening, guests were presented with Eventwist gift bags filled with information about new vendors, as well as invaluable tips from industry experts. It was a perfect event from start to finish. We loved coming together as a team to show off the flexibility of our venue, and proving that HELEN MILLS Event Space and Theater can completely transform into anything that a client envisions.

The HELEN MILLS Team would like to thank all of the vendors and artists who donated their products and services, as well as thank the guests who attended, despite the stormy weather, and for making July 18th, 2012 a truly exceptional night. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
